Sunday, October 28, 2007 — Reformation Sunday
Dear Centenary Church Family:
We will gather in our Sanctuary for Worship at 10:15 AM this Reformation Sunday, October 28. Assistant Pastor Terrilisa Durham Bauknight will bring a word for the children, following which those from Pre-K through 12th Grade will be invited to participate in Sunday School Classes. My morning Message, A Magnifying Glass or a Mirror?, will be based on the Gospel reading from Luke 18:9-14. We will also share in the reading from the Epistle: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18. Our Chancel Choir will sing the lively Anthem, Rejoice, Triumphantly Rejoice! by J. Houston & S. Lawrence. Our Celebration of Found Coins is designated for the 2007 CROP Walk for World Hunger, which was held last Sunday afternoon.

Dear Centenary Church Family:
We will join with faith communities throughout the nation this weekend as we observe the 16th annual observance of Children’s Sabbath, sponsored by the Children’s Defense Fund. Founded and led by Marion Wright Edelman, the Children’s Defense Fund seeks to address major concerns affecting children in our nation. This year’s annual focus is on issues of health care. Under the guidance of Cathy Jean Savoia, our Director of Children’s Ministries, the children and youth of Centenary will share in the leadership of our 10:15 AM Worship Service this Sunday. Much of the liturgy has been drawn from resources provided by the Children’s Defense Fund. Our older children and youth will bring the message to the children. We will hear the Gospel reading from Luke 18:1-8. Our main morning Message will be a video presentation from the United Nations. Our Junior Choir will sing Climbin’ Up the Mountain by Linda Spevacek. The Celebration of Found Coins for October is designated for the 2007 CROP Walk, which will be held this weekend. (Please see the article below.)

Dear Centenary Church Family:
This Sunday, October 7—World Communion Sunday, will be a very special service at Centenary as we will be united in worship with Pastor John Wonyung Choi, Assistant Pastors Nathan Hwang and Tae Moon Jung, and the members of Dreaming Fellowship Church, the Korean-language congregation with whom we have recently entered into a shared facility-relationship covenant. This will truly emphasize and underscore the international spirit of “…the Church which Jesus Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races,” as our Baptismal Covenant reminds us. Our Service will begin at 10:15 AM with some time of sharing celebrations and concerns, prayer and the singing of Make Us One as we center ourselves for Worship.
