Rev. Anna Thomas, Pastor


Rev. Anna Thomas was appointed to Centenary United Methodist Church in July, 2011, following six years as Pastor at Livingston United Methodist Church (Livingston, NJ). Rev. Thomas comes to Centenary armed with a passion for mission and ministry. She is recognized as authentic, humble and inclusive in her approach to ministry.

Prior to her appointment at Livingston UMC, where she served with great love and care for six years, Rev. Thomas served one year in Highland Park, and three years in Union. Her leadership and commitment to the people of the Union United Methodist Church were instrumental in helping that church’s revival into an alive and vital congregation.

Rev. Thomas is a graduate of New York Theological Seminary, NY where she earned her Master of  Divinity degree. She also earned both a Bachelor’s of  Science in Chemistry, and Bachelor’s of Education,  from Bombay University, India. Before coming to the United States she was high school teacher in Bombay, India. Rev. Thomas is the first Asian Indian female to be ordained as an elder in the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Rev. Thomas, a native of Mumbai, India, is married to Sushil Bhujbal, an accomplished musician. They are the proud parents of son Joshua. Rev. Thomas believes in building a church community that is committed and dedicated to transform the lives of people with God’s love, peace and justice.
