METUCHEN (Sept. 6, 2007) – A benefit Art Auction, featuring art, memorabilia and glass priced one-third to one-half below gallery prices, will be presented on September 29 at Centenary United Methodist Church. The Art Auction will benefit Centenary’s Mission Committee, which is sponsoring a work trip to Mar del Plata, Argentina, in early November.
The Art Auction, which will begin with a preview hour at 7 p.m. followed by the auction at 8 p.m., will be presented by Marlin Art of New York, and will feature approximately 160 pieces at below gallery prices. The artwork will be presented, explained and auctioned in a professional manner that will be appreciated by everyone from gallery collectors to art novices. The admission price of $10 includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres, as well as dessert and coffee
“We’re delighted to present such a distinguished collection of art, which I’m sure will include something for everyone’s taste and price range,” said Glenna Gundell, co-chair of Centenary’s Mission Committee. Gundell noted that Marlin Art has conducted auctions which have included works by notables such as Jane Wooster Scott, LeRoy Nieman, Andrew Wyeth and many others.
“This auction promises to be a first-class event,” Gundell said. “But what’s even more exciting, however, is the cause that it will benefit. All of the proceeds from the Art Auction will benefit our work team’s visit to the Evangelical Methodist Church in Mar del Plata. They are an older congregation, and are excited that we will be there to help them in a number of areas, including general repairs, painting, and landscaping projects. We look forward to helping them in whatever areas are necessary.”
