From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear Centenary UMC Members and Friends,
Summer is almost officially over and school will be starting soon. We welcome you back to Centenary after a restful and joyful time. We are very much excited about worship and ministry here at Centenary.
At Centenary UMC, we value youth and young adults. We seek to teach and lead youth but we also affirm the gifts of youth to lead and serve. We are excited to announce that we will have Stephen Surh joining our staff as our new Youth Pastor. He is currently a student at Princeton Theological Seminary.
It is truly a joy to lead such a diverse staff and serve a diverse congregation. After hearing about what happened in Charlottesville, VA., in August, I was feeling very sad and hopeless. Then thinking about Centenary, our church family, and the greater community we serve, it dawned on me that we are a microcosm of what God’s kingdom looks like. Here, we live out God’s dream for mankind. We pray, love and support and welcome people of all races, cultures and backgrounds. We are truly the embodiment of God’s love for humanity. Let us continue to build on this great foundation.
