Sunday, June 259:30 AM Worship & Summer Sunday School

Dear Centenary Church Family:

We will gather in our air-conditioned Sanctuary at 9:30 AM this Sunday, June 25th, for Worship and Summer Sunday School. Michael Savoia will bring a message for the children, after which those children who wish may join in a Summer Sunday School session. My morning Message, Who Do You Trust?, will be based on the Gospel reading from Mark 4:35-41. We will also share in a reading from 2 Corinthians 6:1-13. Trumpeter John Messenger will offer special music during the Offertory, as well as accompany a number of our hymns and songs in Worship. Our Celebration of Found Coins is designated for the ClothesLine Ministry.

Some Thoughts for This Week:
If God loves best in community, who are we to set up ourselves as spiritual loners? – Jane McAlister Pope
Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege, than the raising of the next generation. – C. Everett Koop

The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridges to cross, and which to burn. – David Russell

If you do not want the fruit of sin, stay out of the orchard.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find it’s those who, instead of giving advice, solutions or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. – Henri Nouwen

Lying to ourselves is more deeply ingrained than lying to others.
-Fyodor Dostoevski

A person who is always finding fault seldom finds anything else.
Don’t worry about what you do not understand in the Bible;
Worry instead about what you do understand but do not live by.
Courtesy and consideration of others are two important marks of a Christian.

Don’t mind criticism.
If it is untrue, disregard it.
If it is unfair, don’t let it irritate you;
If it is ignorant, smile.
If it is justified, learn from it.

Sermons “Podcast” on Our Web Site: In addition to being available in print, the Pastors’ weekly sermons are now available as a “podcast” on our Web site. You may listen to each Message as it was delivered in Worship Service. Go to www.CentenaryUMCnj.org to explore this and other new features and links. Our thanks to Web servant Ernie Agtarap for providing this on-line ministry of Centenary.

I look forward to sharing with you in Worship and fellowship this Sunday at Centenary.

Shalom, John
